Children and young people referred and admitted can present a range of behaviours:-

An Impact Risk Assessment will be undertaken prior to admission.

The manager and RI will discuss with the Social worker the individual needs and how they will be met. If the young person needs to be referred to CAMHS in order to have therapy or counselling, staff will support them with appointments and any issues that may rise as they go through the process. They will also report back to the manager, RI and Social Worker through a report which will highlight any additional issues and will look at progress made.

Midway TS will meet these needs by coming alongside the young person and supporting them through the behaviours shown. Through understanding of their reasons behind the behaviour, staff will be able to work through the issues with the young person, through activities, discussion, and support.

Midway TS will work through with the young person by discussing the reasons behind their feelings and try to give them an understanding of the importance of working with these authorities.

Staff at Midway TS will attend appointments with the child or young person in order to support them through the system. They will also educate the young person on the seriousness of being involved in this type of activity and show them more appropriate ways to engage.

The appropriate counselling will be put in place after consultation with the Social Worker, RI and manager to look at the most suitable avenue for this.

Midway TS will work with the Social Worker and Barnados to see if a SERAF service needs to be set up. Staff will support the young person through this process by attending meetings alongside them and feeding back any concerns that they may have.
