    Midway can work with children and young people of 8 – 17 within our residential settings.

    Midway’s homes can accept short, medium and long term placements which includes children and young people with mental health issues and secure step down. We can also offer emergency placements only if the mix and dynamics are assessed and there is no potential effect on the current placement.

    The compatibility and matching of children and young people living in the home is always a vital consideration in any admission and discharge situation, alongside the homes ability to meet the needs of the child and young person. The residents must complete our robust matching process criteria.

    Midway will provide social, emotional and behavioural guidance and support to help individual young people by supporting them with contact and mediation sessions that promote sensitive but timely re-unification. If this is not possible then to gain the skills required to become more mature, less dependent individuals, in preparation for when they either leave the placement or move to an appropriate long-term final placement where their ongoing needs can be met.

    By working in collaboration with the statutory services to provide good educational opportunities and support, enabling the young person to address educational shortfalls and promote ongoing educational achievement. The staff will attend meetings with the children and young people to support them and address the educational issues. They will work with the school, PRU or social worker in order to find the most appropriate education for the individual child or young person. This will be recorded in their PEP and updated as necessary.

    By providing services that meet existing or outstanding health care needs and facilitate future good health care. Midway will work with CAMHS, Counsellors, Psychologists and other health care professionals to ensure the full support is given to the child or Young Person.
